I Missed This
CulvertonSmith14 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Dexter has such a specific and unique feel to it, and while the atmosphere of this series is different, they've really captured the essence of the show. Lots of really good moments with Harrison, Dexter, and Angela, and I love Deb's role in here. Plenty of great tension with Dexter as we see him desperately trying to cover his tracks. This whole situation is just so messy and I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

A slower episode, but building to something big
Dannyboi9416 November 2021
Like last week, this episode is a little slow. It spends most of the time building this new relationship between Dexter and Harrison, and it's done very well. We also got our first introduction to our main villian of the season, played by the great Clancy Brown. His character comes off as a very charming, caring father type - much like Arthur from the original series. So I'm interested in seeing where this character goes.

I would say the slowest part of this episode is when we follow Harrison as he adapts to this new life, and we get introduced to more characters around his age. These characters may turn original fans off, as they can seem to be a bit irritating. But I liked to see Harrison has picked up a few tricks.

My biggest issue with this episode was that they killed off a character from the original show, off-screen. I don't want to spoil for anyone who has yet to see, but this bothered me. I enjoyed that character, and hoped to see more of her, but it looks like we never will.

Good episode, silly mistakes
smetin20 November 2021
Great follow up to the premiere and it was good to see Dexter back on form. Well, I saw 'on form', but I had a couple of gripes with his apparent sloppiness with the kill in the prior episode. No spoilers, but you would have thought he would not have been so careless, right up to the final reveal of the episode. I was also a bit miffed we don't get a proper intro song to the episode. Yes, the original would not be appropriate, but something to mirror that tongue-in-cheek intro would have been better than a two second 'DEXTER:NEW BLOOD' in ice and the episode title hidden in the screen.

I have been impressed so far, but just hope things get a bit more tidy for Dexter. And please bring an intro song!

Uncertainties.
blndbahaden14 November 2021
When the revival was announced I was waiting for something predictable but satisfying. Fortunately for us fans that was far from the truth this might be a sorry from Showtime to the fans but it's still a season and up until now it has really delivered some goods to the fans. The best part is that it is not predictable does Harisson have a dark passenger?, who is the villain?, what will happen to Dexter?, what will Angela find about Dexter? And so many more questions that need answering and make us uncertain of what will happen in this season. P. S I loved the reference to the trinity killer "you are already dead".

I was not expecting this!
sexyshao14 November 2021
After the dull and quite frankly low performance of El Camino after Breaking Bad and The Many Saints of Newark after The Sopranos I was thinking that this might too turn up that way, but it is not. No, it's the other way around picking up many details that were left when season 8 of Dexter ended, and story as well as Performances by Hall and Carpenter are amazing. Jack Alcott is surprisingly good.

I don't wanna jinx it...
nakrugt19 November 2021
Well, I don't wanna jinx it, but the writing is so far good and I really enjoy the conflicts and suspense.

I hope the producers and writers will not mess it up.

Ok. Maybe the show is going better then I though.

Warning: Spoilers
Already great episode showing the normal Dexter routine of having to cover up things with some good twists. I wasn't sure about Harrison, but with what was revealed it could be a good twist seeing how he deals with him. Harrison is growing on me now. Can't wait to see what's next.

Deb Deb Deb Deb
douglasmcbroom15 November 2021
I gave last weeks' debut an 8, but this one a 7. Why? Deb. As I wrote last week, they made a huge mistake replacing the always great Harry with Deb, who almost single-handedly destroyed the last 2 Seasons of Dexter. As her profane, screaming, hysterical, unhinged character takes root, I am trying to ignore her-that's very difficult. She may well destroy this reboot.

Jack Alcott, as Harrison, looks like a great addition.

The plot thickens
jaegersteven14 November 2021
The second episode of the new season is as the previous episode nearly perfect.

Everthing comes together, new storylines and new questions how it will continue this season and especially how it all will end.

I can not wait to watch the next episode.

The old dexter vibes are back, i love it.

Building up , but god: get DEBORAH ouf of this
erik-dehulster19 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The plot is getting more interesting after Dex's first murder after all these years.. The arrival of his mysterious son is a good addition. However, the return of Jennifer Carpenter as Deborah is rather annoying, and I hope she shuts up after this.. I can understand she is like the second voice in Dex" head, but why does she have to be annoying..

God I hate teenage characters.
unorthodxx15 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As a teenager myself I always find characters like Harrison just completely unbearable.

Overall I think "Dexter: New Blood" is just a bit overrated and so far it's been pretty boring :/

Solid follow up to the premiere
ninjaboyballer16 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I liked this episode. I think it was a nice way to open back up after the events that took place in the premiere. The classic Dexter type tension is there along with a few new elements mixed in.

For one, I think Harrison is growing on me. It came as a shock to find out Hannah died. Though I was never a big fan of her character, so it didn't bother me as much on an emotional level. But in terms of the story, it was a surprise reveal. To both Dexter and the audience. The actor also did a fine job, though there were scenes where it felt like he was phoning it in just a bit. Maybe he gets it from Dexter, though, who knows.

Dexter himself, or Jim, is as good as he's ever been. His constant back and forth with Deb is very entertaining but also very interesting. Their whole mind battle is a new take compared to the relationship Harry and Dexter had in the original show, due to Deb's wildly different personality. Jennifer Carpenter is killing it, her chemistry with Michael C. Hall is spot on. Michael C. Hall is also great, portraying a clearly out of practice Dexter who's desperately trying to cover up his tracks. I do like the fact that they don't have him convert back into his old self just yet. He's obviously going to be more clumsy in his craft, since he's gone about 10 years without killing anyone. And judging by the end of the episode, things are most likely to get harder for him.

I also like how we're getting to see a bit more of who the side characters are. Angela in particular got some really good moments in this episode, especially towards the end with her daughter, Aubrey. I'm enjoying her character so far and I'm excited to see where her and Dexter's relationship goes in this season.

I'm also intrigued by the mystery being built up behind who's watching Emily (I think her names Emily) and holding her captive. That one still has me scratching my head. However; I'm confident that Kurt Caldwell has something to do with it.

Speaking of Kurt Caldwell, Clancy Brown makes his first appearance as the character at the end of the episode. He seems to be a well intentioned guy, just trying to look for his son. I can't help but notice, though, is that there seems to be something off about him. It's barely noticeable, but once you catch on, there's no looking away from it. The way his tone is; he just sounds too optimistic and too determined. Maybe he's hiding something? That's how it seems to me anyways.

Overall, an engaging second episode that sets the seeds for at least the next 2 episode. While providing some interesting character work and story progression.

Rating: 8.5/10.

If this show continues with this solid level it'll be better than season 4 i can feel it the only that i didn't like that they don't use much sound effects but not big deal.

Slow-paced episode but a very promising sign for the rest of the season.
bayleykedar15 November 2021
Following on from last week, 'New Blood' is offering a lot of the same.

More top-notch filmmaking, aesthetic shots that track through the snow-ridden landscape, inventive sequences during Dexter's hallucinations etc. However, this is where we see the plot beginning to shape up. Every season requires a few episodes like this before it can possibly build up to any sort of climax, and the second episode is a great place to begin this journey.

Again, we are treated to a lot of the elements from the original show, more Dexter trickery and deception, more quick-wit and humorous dialogue etc. The only criticism I have, bar the lack of anything extraordinary happening, is that I'm slightly tired of the overused trope of the "traumatised individual" being haunted by someone they lost. It makes sense in the world of the show and, to its credit, is shot wonderfully with sequences that are more creative than times when it has been done previously, however I think there are better ways to externalise Dexter's demons or his fears and anxieties.

I believe most viewers will have a reasonable bearing of where this season is going (I'm sensing certain similarities to a previous season of the show) however I'm certain I'll be very pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns we have come to expect from Dexter. And even if my own theories are true, it's fun to be back on the journey with our Dark Passenger. There's certainly a lot here to be desired by viewers who may never have seen the show before, however part of its appeal lies in how wonderful it is to see Dexter on our screens again. Looking forward to how the rest will unfold after a slow yet very promising episode.

It's looking good...
highlander_3152716 November 2021
Dexter has faced the troubled teen before. Now, it is not so easy for him to dismiss. This could be interesting.

Also, having Dexter's sister, Hall's real life exwife, Carpenter, return to be an angry conscience is genius.

We get to see Deborah being the same smart mouthed energetic person she always was, while placing the blame of her demise squarely on Dexter, and antagonizing him into a straight and narrow that Dexter cannot always adhere to.

a tiny bit better than the first episode, but still....
hakra120 November 2021
After introducing quite dully the side characters in episode one, now the story is starting, but the overacting is just painfull. Really sorry to say so, but John Alcott was a bad choice for taking the part of Harrisson, why do they contract somebody who cant even performe a hungry person?

Athmosphere is growing a bit finally, but still the logical flaws and the empty side characters are bothering. And as in number 1, some scenes are far too forced and obvious. Lets hope things getting better with number three on monday...

One question
Sushi114 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So the whole town and the police (with a helicopter) are out there searching for a missing person in the woods, but no one has the common sense of bringing a search dog, just one dog and Dexter goes behind the bars for good, they even brought a drone at first, even Dexter who is supposed to be an evil genius thought that burying the guy in his yard keeps him away from getting caught.. it just doesn't make any sense.. maybe they'll listen to me and bring dogs the next episode, but Dexter will dispose of the body in time (maybe in that fishing hole in the ice). Mehh, but overall it's not a bad episode.

This feels like the old Dexter seasons which were the best ones. Hate waiting a week an hour seems so short. Liking Harrison so far, interested to see more of him learning about Dexter.

Impressed, but I have one question!
rebeccajeannephillips15 November 2021
Has Harrison not googled his father, Dexter Morgan? He comes back and asks Dexter why he left him, but surely he has done (at least) a small bit of research? I honestly don't care, because I'm already re-obsessed with the show, just a thought that I had!

Dexter the Dad
mycannonball27 December 2021
The relationship between Dexter and Harrison takes center stage here. I find it fascinating and I'm very curious to see where it goes. I also love the snowy small town setting of this season. It was great that they went in a different direction in terms of atmosphere to make it different than Miami.
