This episode might be THE best (worst) example of why Zasio is TERRIBLE. She is absolutely the worst of the psychologists who work with hoarders on this show.
Zasio makes EVERYTHING about her, couched in terms hat sound like it's client-focused. Compare her behavior with Dr. Tolin. Where he frames things in a professional & objective manner & tone, Zasio's voice & facial lead the clip to perceived the objective as 'pleadr Zasio (or relieve her pain & sadness). Zasio is, 'Do this for me.' Tolin & others are focused on the client.
Zasio tells people what they're feeling, she doesn't honestly ask; she doesn't actually listen. She assmes, and she tells.
In this episode, we finally see a family say, "This isn't working!", referring to the slow, coddling non-confrontational methodology that basically lets the hoarder have his or her way, irrespective of time constraints. The family asks for her guidance g for her to lead the confrontation. Zasio bails completely. Her 'plan' dies not come close to communicating what they want to the hoarder, AND Zasio puts it all on the family members to implement. She literally says she'll be "watching to see which side wins". Incredible!
Other than providing a crystal clear example of why Zasio's bogus 'education' is such a sham, AND seeing a family finally confront a producer about the method not working, the formula is the usual; the hoarder is a miserable selfish person, and the job doesn't really get completed.
