Warning: Spoilers
Cripps, Cerra and others back in for the Blues, with Walsh and Silvagni out. De Goey gets the first for the Pies within a minute. McGovern goals from 55, Carlton giving plenty of 50-metre penalties away though. It's all tied at quarter-time however and the Blues kick away in the 2nd. They go into halftime up 17 and really could've been further ahead. Curnow kicks a quality goal, for his third. The Pies keep surging the ball back inside 50 late in the 3rd, but unable to convert and Carlton holds a commanding 19-point lead going into the last. Collingwood continue to miss opportunities and Curnow gets a dodgy free-kick for a shot on goal and then another and it's all over. Howe put forward takes back to back good marks and converts both. Cripps dominant in tight all game, the Blues home by 17 points. The Pies won the hit-outs, Carlton +10 in clearances and applied good pressure. Collingwood with 4 more inside 50's, for equal scoring shots, the Blues more accurate on goal. Curnow best afield, with 15 disposals, 5 inside 50's and 6 straight goals. Cripps 20 disposals, 7 clearances and 10 tackles. Weitering 18 disposals, 2 contested marks and 10 intercepts. Newman 27 disposals, 7 tackles, 9 intercepts and an assist. For Collingwood, Howe 17 disposals all effective, 5 intercepts and 3 straight goals.

3. (Carl) C. Curnow, 2. (Carl) P. Cripps, 1. (Coll) J. Howe.
