Revenge doesn't hesitate!

Wow! Antoher amazing episode that had me om edge from beginning to end! Every scene had me full attention! Every scene mattered! This was tense and thrilling all the way through!

This episode makes us understand the scope of Mizus mission and the reason behind! This alone solidified how great her character is! The flashbacks were great as well! Even if it only offers us glimpses, her past were filled with dark moments she wont forget! Her life was shaped because of her looks and race!

The episode also introduces the element of honor, and what It means to be a Samurai! Do you fight for honor, to kill or to survive? Taigen offers some great dynamics and Ringo is also showing himself as a great addition!

deft storytelling

Blue Eye Samurai continues to be amazing, expertly juggling four different character arcs (Mizu, Ringo, Akemi and Taigan) while keeping the action tightly plotted without an ounce of fat, yet still surprising.

The animation alone would be worth watching for, even if everything else was substandard. A horse ride through a pink-tinged snow covered forest of ancient pines never looked so good. All the historical details must have been extensively researched and are very convincing.

Mizu's method for determining how to kill her next target was clever. It takes smart writing to convincingly convey a smart character.

Akemi's own scheme is daring if maybe not so wise - you wouldn't expect a pampered princess to be quite as clever as Mizu - and puts her story on a collision course with Mizu and the boys, so the characters will reconnect in an organic way. Nicely done.

Outstanding

A simply excellent episode of television, animated or otherwise. The dialogue is great, the pacing is tight, the suspense is killer, and the character dynamics are spot on. Mizu continues to be a wonderfully complicated main character, whose every scene keeps the viewer on the knife's edge, wondering if her ferocity and skill will win the day again, or if that cocky arrogance of hers is about to get her into trouble.

Honestly, I haven't seen an animated series do an episodic adventure story this solidly, and with such consistent scene-to-scene storytelling competence, probably since Avatar.

It's just GREAT!
