Finally season 9 delivers!
jimmylindberg9322 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The beginning of season nine hasn't, in my opinion, been very great. The story has been slow and the jokes haven't been that funny. But this episode is easily one of the ten best episodes of the entire series. The plot is great and the Indiana Jones-reference is spot on. The way Robin and Barney lie to the minister about how they met, using Marhalls and Lilys very romantic story, is just hilarious. Ted is as always insecure about how he should act and ends up making really bad decisions all night. But since this leads to him meeting the mother at Farhampton it is totally worth it. The only thing that wasn't funny was how the girl Ted ended up with in this episode faked her crying and wasn't convincing at all.

Also the wedding at Barney's scene was just awesome.

Whats up with this show?????!!!

This is my first review on IMDb...and How i met your mother is one of my favourite shows .! But season 9 , just like season 8 & 9 and Season 6 to some extent is a pale shadow of how great the show used to be in the earlier seasons...It is understandable that its very difficult to have a complete season at the same location spanning just over a weekend ,,but expectations from the writers of HIMYM are sky high!!! I hope they bounce back with a bang..!! This particular episode was though much better than the other episodes of season 9....Just the classic HIMYM humour is missing..Wont give away any spoilers...!! I have faith on this show...!!

You choice poorly

In this episode, Ted finds himself with three prospects to be his date for the wedding weekend, which he chooses poorly. Meanwhile, Barney and Robin have a confrontation with their minister, and Marshall learns more about his driving companion, Daphne. Overall this was a decent episode that was pretty fun and had some good character moments. The Indian Jones joke was funny Anna Camp guest stars as Cassie, the emotionally unstable girl. Anna Camp is one of my favorite actors, and while I wouldn't say this is among her best work, she does pretty well with what she is given here. I love the idea that she is just one of those people who goes from one tragedy to another and seeing Ted have to deal with that was funny at the time. However, I do find it problematic that Ted only sees her as someone to sleep with and that her problems are simply painted as preventing him from getting laid. In real life, sometimes people need to be comforted, and women should be treated as more than just sex symbols. With that said, it's a pretty good episode and worth watching for Anna Camp.

Knight Vision (#9.6)

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was a great one. Ted making a bad choice was a pretty good part of it. And we know that very very soon he will end up with the mother.

Barney and Robin are just cracking me up. Their whole story with the minister is so great and so them. I like how they stole Lily's story of how they met. And the scene in which they pretty much kill that minister by telling their messy relationship was awesome.

Marshall and Daphne practising in the car how Marshall will tell her that he took the job was great as well. Love how we had Daphne's voice when we were seeing how it will be going on. Her working for an oil company was also a great surprise. And we now have a cliffhanger as she told Lily.

Another poor episode

Warning: Spoilers
I find myself losing any investment in the story as the season progresses. The episodes seem to lack an emotional weight at this point in the story, and although "Knight Vision" still does not deliver the goods, there are some fine elements at play here.

The best aspect of this episode is Marshall's hesitance in telling Lily that he accepted his judgeship. There is a bit of force, and threat to this aspect of the episode. We can identify with Marshall, and the fear that their relationship may take yet another tumble with his latest secrecy. Also Sherri Shepherd is a great element of these episodes as Daphne.

Robin and Barney prepare for their wedding, and their chances of getting married are jeopardized when the Reverend discovers their deceit. As someone who finds little to enjoy in their relationship now (seeing as how annoying Robin really is), this aspect was fairly boring. This episode does commit a major sin: taking death as a bit of a joke. Barney and Robin sort of end up 'killing' the reverend, and have no sense of guilt about it whatsoever. This idea of death being taken comedically rarely works (it worked superbly in The Simpsons's "Homer's Enemy") but it requires an expert level of writing. This crew unfortunately are not apt enough to deal with this matter.

Ted's story is serviceable and the Knight, who is initially very annoying, ultimately brings out a few good laughs. The show thinks that by further holding back Cristin Milioti that they are doing good to the show....but they really aren't.

I hate to say this, but I wonder if 'I chose poorly' when deciding to give this show a chance. It has rarely been consistently great in quality since the second season. Unfortunately, it now feels like an age ago.

This show used to be...enjoyable to watch

The sherri sheperd episodes were just awful. Dumb character and I guess her acting as an unlikable person was effective, but really distracted from the main characters. Left a bad taste on my mouth.

So any episodes with Sherru Sheperd or Robin yelling PATRICE are just really bad.

In 9 years, Ted hasn't learned anything

Warning: Spoilers
Toxic Ted at it again. Ted acts as if all women are good for is hooking up, is he trying to be the new Barney?

When this woman has her life crumbling around her, he's upset that his night was ruined because they didn't have sex? A caring person wouldn't have worried about that, wouldn't have even tried sleeping with her, they would have let her grieve and not treated it like a chore, even though they just met.

Makes you wonder if the limited time the mother has in life wasn't a blessing with how Ted acts.
