Great Fan-film
frankie311028 January 2019
Good fan-film. A lot of people say it's bad but nah. Good stuff Don't really know what to say since I'm no good with reviews. Reason I gve it a 7? The fact that it's not a sequel to Zootopia, like that makes me real furious. But there's hopes for a sequel this year so good. Props to Mauricio for doing all this. BIEN HECHO!

Good fan film.
alecbehan27 January 2019
This fan film is good to me. My favorite part was when Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde were singing the song, Cold Coffee. That was so beautiful! The animation is decent, the voice acting is pretty good, and the story was pretty good, I guess. Will I recommend it? Maybe. I would rather watch the first half of the fan film and I'd rather watch the real Zootopia movie by Disney. I'm waiting for a real sequel to 2016 Disney's Zootopia and a TV series too. Return to Zootopia would be like a one time watch. I loved it when Judy Hopps woke up and yawned at the opening scene. That was so cute and adorable. Overall, Return to Zootopia is a good fan sequel to Zootopia. If only we could see some behind the scenes voice recording sessions of the cast members voicing their characters. Same with the music. I love seeing that. The music was pretty cool by the way. Anyway, Return to Zootopia is good, but I'm still waiting for a real Zootopia 2 from Disney. Same with Zootopia: The Series. So yeah. That's my review. I hope you like it. :) ;)

Pretty good for a first fan film. Has its ups and downs. Not really the best Zootopia sequel.
davidcicodex10 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
(CAUTION! A VERY LONG REVIEW!)

For a fan film in which almost all of the production has been made by only one person, this was a pretty great fan film. However, a rushed plot, plot holes, and out of character moments brought it down too.

The soundtrack, visuals, editing, and script have been made by Mauricio Velazco only, and that must have been a really difficult challenge to do. And yet, the soundtrack is absolutely fitting to the setting of Zootopia, and the visuals, despite being limited due to the style that has been used, was able to beautifully portray the story nonetheless. You could see the progression on how the art is used as the story goes on, but it may be a little offputting to those who like consistency.

However, despite how the visuals and soundtrack don't seem to be made by only one person, it is extremely apparent with the script. The script borrows too much elements on the original Zootopia script, such as the Nighthowler idea and another plot twist villain. However, it stumbles on a lot of areas where Zootopia was able to accomplish. The drama (breakup) in the middle seems forced and unnecessary when it was resolved after one episode then forgotten later on. Plus, the pacing of Nick and Judy's relationship seems really quick and doesn't flow naturally (But giving credit where credit is due, I'm now grateful that he didn't make them kiss in the end as a cliche).

Additionally, there were a lot of OOC moments, such as Judy giving up on their relationship despite having only ONE DAY of rejection when she's always been a fighter, and especially Bogo being a complete jerk despite him learning in the end of Zootopia.

*SPOILERS*

But the very big part that brought this down was the villain and the ending.

Miles was an extremely predictable villain, wherein I was thinking that someone else would be the surprise villain because Miles would have been an extremely easy guess. And even worse, he was also a part in the love triangle, further establishing the cliche that the 'rival' of the protagonist in a love triangle is also the villain.

Now, the ending. It feels rushed, forced, and unsatisfactory. I didn't like the huge exposition dump before the climax. The climax was pretty good though, with the visuals doing the best that it could since it wasn't the best style for that kind of action. However, the resolution felt like it ruined everything that Nick and Judy has worked for in Zootopia. It felt like that Nick and Judy being police officers were somehow a disadvantage, and therefore, them leaving the ZPD was somehow justified, when that is not the case. It forgot that the reason why they joined the ZPD was because that they wanted to make the world a better place, not because it's only a job. And that Jack Savage cameo, that just seemed like fan service.

*END SPOILERS*

Being a challenging film that was almost entirely made by only one person is a feat to behold. However, this only highlights why it is important to have numerous people in charge of different aspects of the movie. I'm pretty sure the reason why the script felt really rushed was because of the time constraint that Mauricio has. But with this being Mauricio's first film, I can only say that he will definitely be better in the future. He has another film in the making, and I will be wishing him the best of luck.

Best Sequel For Zootopia
savetheducksplease13 February 2019
For a movie created completely by fans this is an amazing film! The whole film is something I would re watch multiple times. It has such a great story to it and the voice acting is phenomenal! I'd recommend to anyone who liked or disliked the original movie!

Cool
ScottyO229 August 2019
This is an epic fan-film made for the chads. Mauricio really did a great job on this. It's one of the best fan films I've ever seen, I know it's very unlikely because of the amount of work he puts in for no return, but I'd love to see it make a return.

Has its faults, but is still good
ericstevenson16 January 2024
It was very interesting to see a fanfiction come to life, as that's basically what this is. At two hours long, it's a lot for any animated movie! Well, it's more like a motion comic. How can it be one of those? They have actual captions! If you include this as an animation, then it is indeed the longest flash animated film on the entire Internet.

This movie features Nick and Judy come across the new mayor, a bunny named Miles Walker. He publicly exposes them as lovers, even though they aren't really established as lovers until after this statement. Hey, it's a lot better than the "Zootopia" abortion comics! It earns its PG-13 rating. I hold "Zootopia" up in a very high standard as it's my favorite non-Pixar Disney CGI movie. A real "Zootopia" comic sequel is coming out, and even though this lacks the humor of the original, it can still keep you satisfied until the real sequel. ***

I love RTZ!!!
hellodoctorwho22 March 2019
I saw Zootopia back when it first came out in 2016 and fell in love with the movie! I loved the relationship between Judy and Nick and I love how in this fan film sequel there is even more character development between them! For a fan film this is pretty much a flawless film. The animation is on point and entertaining. (No dull or boring bits)... fight scenes are crazy fun to watch! I love the fact that it is a an original sound track made for the film! And the voice acting is EXCELLENT!!! The voice actors portrayed their characters beautifully and really brought them to life. I love how the writer and director "Browntable" added Blanston to play an original character by the writers of Zootopia! His voice actor was cool sounding!

All in all if you like, love, or even hate Zootopia I recommend this fan film to anyone!!!

Very Bad
as-1273826 December 2020
I know this is a fan film but it's very bad, it has lazy writing, animation and it is just overall boring and uninteresting, if you liked Zootopia don't bother with this dull as dishwater film. Also it includes romance between the two leads Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, those characters are friends in the original and that is all they are meant to be, making them a couple is just weird, it doesn't work, this film had potential but the outcome is just a mess, don't waste your time on this movie. Mauricio (Browntable) may want to work on his writing skills and animation because oh did i forget to mention the animation is basically just freeze frames with the characters sliding along the screen? yeah it gets annoying really fast and it hurt my eyes and also contributed to how dull and boring this film was.

Avoid it and just watch Zootopia.

this film makes The Room decent...

Amazing Surprise Sequel!
harryadamans28 August 2019
Browntable's "Return to Zootopia" is absolutely incredible! Solid plot and writing. Amazing original score and great voice acting! The voice actors/ancestress did an amazing job bringing the characters to life! I specifically love the fact that Browntable uses original Zootopia ideas such as Jack Savage!

Overall an amazing fan-made sequel!

Wait for Disney's sequel instead
johnbr405027 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've heard people raving about it and saying that it is better than the actual Zootopia movie or on par with it and i have to wonder if they are being serious or joking because this 'film' is nothing more than a fan fiction and of course all fan fiction isn't great, this is much of the same as it suffers from bad writing and plots that are just ridiculous. Isn't it a rule that you should stay true to the characters you are writing about? that isn't what happens here, the characters do not act like they would and make ludicrious decisions that they would never make, the two main leads are also in a cringe inducing romantic relationship which is also ridiculous as they are friends in the original and that is what they are meant to be.. not to mention it's disgusting, wrong and not at all right in anyway. Just avoid this mess and wait for Disney to make the real sequel, at least you know you'll be getting a well written story instead of this garbage

A tribute to all Zootopia fans
Finnick-at-Nuernberg11 August 2020
First of all, I love Zootopia So I watched this fan sequel with great interest and was very positively surprised. I don't care about the quality of the animation, because I am aware of the extreme effort behind it. Nevertheless: First of all, the well-known characters from Zootopia are super well met, both in their appearance and their emotions. The animation effort increases more and more during the course of the film. The soundtrack shows parallels to the original, but follows an individual style, which hits the mood very well. Also here a big praise for this effort. The story: There are probably two fan camps: One wants Nick and Judy to remain friends, the other wants a more significant relationship between the two. I belong to the latter camp and was positively surprised how well this relationship development was thought out. This is also true for the framework plot, in which both the rabbit Miles Walker (he wants to become mayor of Zootopia) and the attack on an armadillo, employs Nick and Judy as a new investigator duo. Big, big praise to Mauricio Velazco for this masterpiece!

Amazing Sequel to A Great Disney Film
jamessapio22 August 2019
This fan-made film has to be the most worked, detailed, and dedicated project to any movie! The voice acting was incredible and I loved little Easter eggs that were put in like Jack Savage (an old original story concept of what Zootopia almost was) The plot was well written and solid and every episode is left with a hook. For one man animating and writing, I must say this is incredible. The voice actors did an incredible job as well. Apparently the soundtrack is an original score by the writer and it fits the movie so well!

I'd recommend this film to anyone who loved the original film or loved Disney!

Don't listen to the bad reviews!
rconner-0351422 January 2023
As a major fan of the first film finding this film surprised me with how good and enjoyable it was considering its small budget and resources. Most people hating on it tend to forget that animation is hard and still hold it against the creator trying his best to animate it on mostly his own. While I will say we should have seen more of Miles walker that is about my only real complaint with this film, and I'm not gonna review it as if its a high budget movie like most of the bad reviews cause its not. I'm gonna treat it like a low budget passion project that some one put hard effort into. So in conclusion don't listen to the people saying its bad causes its not and I would totally recommend it to anyone who loved the first one as much as me!

An insult and a joke to the Original Zootopia
Markte202027 December 2020
It Ruined The Original, The Characters Don't Feel The Same, The Animation Confuses People, A Generic Villain, It's Too Dark. Wildehopps Is included so that just takes away any decency this film could have had, Everything About This Fan Film Was AWFUL....avoid it and watch the real Zootopia instead...you'll only waste your time with this.... the creator needs to quit now as he clearly has no idea what he is doing

Avoid at all costs. Unless you are obsessed with wildehopps i guess...
ajch1127 January 2019
This is one of those things that sounds good on paper but turns out to be bad. And to be honest it could have been great but it suffered from one BIG mistake and that was including the horrendous overrated ship Wildehopps, you know..that ridiculous romantic pairing of Hopps and Wilde that a lot of fans for some reason or whatever seem to love. Well it's in there and prepare to have it crammed down your throat because it's basically a 2 hour romantic fan fiction with a story that you can hardly follow because WH has to be crammed in every 5 seconds.... And if your like me and don't ship it, you'll be reaching for a sick bucket every 5 seconds too...

But enough about WH that doesn't even begin to scrape the barrel!

The story (whatever it is anyway) is mediocre at best and there are far too many rehashed scenes from the original movie ranging from reused animation to blatantly doing the same scene such as the Jerry Vole scene which while was funny in the original movie, it fails to deliver here and it just looks like they are trying too hard..

And i won't spoil anything here but at the very end, a character makes a decision they would never make, like it literally wouldn't happen and i hated that Browntable wrote it that way, it didn't make any sense (but then again a lot of it didn't)

I understand i'm being harsh since this isn't a real sequel to Zootopia and i'm rather glad too but there are far too many problems here.

The animation looks good, i'll admit but i'd enjoy it if it didn't annoy me by sliding along the screen, just freeze framed pictures sliding along... The final part of the film actually has proper animation and if the whole film was like that it would have been so much better but alas....the voice acting is not great...the voices of Nick and Judy do not sound like they should and it's not even an attempt really, the voice actors pretty much used their own voices.. A lot suffer from bad microphone quality and one character is even mumbling his lines or just doesn't sound like he's trying...

All i'll say is if a real sequel is anything like this....god help us..

Avoid it at all costs and stick to the original because at least that's a decent movie and worthy of your time...also doesn't have any cliche cringe worthy romance so there is that..

Not very good at all
aj191914 April 2019
Return to Zootopia has a lot of problems. It has lazy animation, disjointed storytelling, and character motivations that make no sense. Honestly, I think the real problem is the fanfilm's lack of focus. The WildeHopps ship is crammed in with a dozen other subplots (many of which go nowhere) without tying them together in a satisfying way, making the ending feel abrupt and unearned.

Fan Made To Perfection
kervindonngo14 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the times I see a fan video uploaded to IMDB.

Return To Zootopia gave us a fantastic Zootopia fan sequel created by Browntable.

Unlike the official Zootopia movie. Return To Zootopia gave us an even more mature setting with drug reference, alcohol substance, and violence but it manages to keep its characters in place which means that stay on character and develops a more better story with the movie as it goes along.

Unlike Mayor Bellwether. The new villain is Miles Walker. Has like more upgraded version of Bellwether having her own kind of backstory and of course an actual gun which that fan OC has proved to be a better villain than the canon villain from the movie

One of the best parts of the movie that absolutely has is the relationship between Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps. In the movie I absolutely one hundred percent love the chemistry between these two. From just best friends in the police force to becoming absolute lovers that most in Zootopia wanted to see. A beautiful hybrid-made couple that they absolutely deserve.

And the action? It literally has two or fight scenes in it. Making the fan film an actual Action Crime Thriller to watch.

If a fan film can actually do it. I hope that Disney can actually do better.

How did this even end up in IMDb?
pwargo4 May 2022
One has to wonder how something like this gets made. Did somebody have far too much time on their hands? If so, why not create something original instead of a poorly-crafted follow up to somebody else is movie? I hesitate to even call this "animation", and the voice acting isn't acting. As the title says, I'm not sure how this even ended up on IMDb as it's not a movie, a television show, or even anything that I can quite describe.
