What Happened and What's Going On
tristan_1929 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode succeeds in showing our characters coming to terms with what just happened.

Beta's world just turned upside down, Carol's dealing with the aftermath of Alpha's death and Ezekiel gets a sweet scene with Yumiko.

I liked the directing in this one and enjoyed the shot with Eugene and co on the road, reminiscing of Rick on his horse in Days Gone Bye. One of the scenes with Negan and the minion whisperers was particularly funny.

Build up episode towards the grand finale, with a little cliffhanger. Carol's issues are getting old, but hopefully she found some kind of peace moving forward.

Building up to hopefully an epic finale
ninjaboyballer30 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was another great one from the Walking Dead's 10th season. I still can't believe this shows almost a decade old and it's still good and one of the most popular shows on TV right now. One of the things I really liked about this episode is that it focused more on Beta and touched on his backstory as a musician (plus his music is actually pretty good) and it's just interesting to see a different side of this supposed monster and see that he's still human deep down inside. Plus that ending really has me excited for the last few episodes (I'm also still kinda pissed that they delayed the finale to later in the year, I was so hyped for it :(. It sucks). I also really liked all of Daryl and Negan's scenes and how Negan ended up saving Daryl from the 3 whisperers who apparently crowned Negan their new Alpha before they died, which was weird because at the same time Beta should have become the new Alpha unless (which 2 whisperers actually pointed out) unless it has something to do with dominance but whatever I don't understand that kind of stuff. One of the things that I also liked is Eugene's storyline with Yumiko and Ezekiel. While it's not quite as good as the first two it is still really enjoyable and there are some really good moments out of it and holy crap they just ran into the Princess! I can't wait to see this character and how she's handled onscreen because she was one of the only characters of comic relief in the source material. And while I did like Carol's sub plot it also felt a bit underused a bit. However I did like all the callbacks including the phrase "Look at the Flowers" and how Alpha was basically taunting Carol with her past.

Overall this is a really solid with great character moments and interactions while also progressing the plot in a way that builds up to the end and I can't wait for the finale two episodes!

The Ghost
claudio_carvalho20 April 2020
The agreement in Alexandria between Carol and Negan to kill Alpha is disclosed in flashback. However, in the present days, Carol tells Negan that she is not going back to Alexandria with him, and she asks him to wait for her since she wants to stay alone. Soon she is haunted by the vision of Alpha. Meanwhile Negan heads to the cabin where Lydia was tied to a chair but finds her missing and is surprised by Daryl. He explains that he joined the Whisperers to kill Alpha as agreed with Carol. Eugene, Ezekiel and Yumiko ride on the road to meet Stephanie and her team.

"Look at the Flowers" is a good episode of "The Walking Dead" with several sub-plots. Daryl and Negan together is something impossible to be imagined. The adventure of Eugene, Ezekiel and Yumiko is a promising segment. What will happen with the insane Beta, the Whisperers and the horde of walkers is also promising. Carol´s trip is the boring part of the show. My vote is eight.

Title (Brazil): "Olhe as Flores" ("Look at the Flowers")

Note: On 10 January 2024, I saw this episode again.

Great character development episode and great intro to the new commonwealth story as the Whisperer war ends... loved all the scenes except Carol's... but watching Ezekiel killing the Horse reminded me of Shiva and it was sad. Good Episode. And obviously Negan is the best character imo. How he changes up mood so quick is just great. I hope they keep him relevant as the story goes on .

YES! The walking dead is back! Episodes just keep getting greater. This episode sets up so much for the future of the series! Don't be to quick to judge just because it isn't the episode you wanted and expected.

What an amazing episode! TWD definitely has life in it now, it found its magic again. Amazing character development, get to see a new character that's introduced towards the end of the ep.-(hint: a comic character) also we get to see a character again who lost there life a couple episodes ago, and in the end it's a "Ohhhh F**CK" moment!

Kneel for the new Alpha
davisond-9573029 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In my opinion this was one of the weaker entries in this Season but that doesn't mean to say the episode was bad, in fact it was far from that.

Carol continues to be selfish and it's really annoying, one of my least favourite characters this season. She refuses to go back to Alexandria which leaves Negan hanging (quite literally) because if he returns alone he will probably be executed at the gates. Even after Alpha's death her presence still lingers tormenting and haunting Carol for most of the episode and she's even the one to deliver the famous line 'Look at the flowers'.

Negan returns to the cabin he had Lydia tied up in and is greeted by Daryl holding a crossbow to his face. The two don't get along too well but the chemistry is better than the viewers may think and I can see a possible bromance in the future. There is even a scene where some random whisperers put Daryl on his knees and tell Negan he's the new Alpha so he toys with the idea before they both double team slaughtering the trio of skins.

Eugene, Yumiko and Ezekiel set off on a mission to find Stephanie, there is a lot of emotional goodbyes, some possible death foreshadowing. During the Journey, one of the horses are bitten and slowly dies. They eventually arrive at the meet-up point where they find loads of walkers tied up and are then faced with a woman holding a machine gun.

Finally, the character the episode focuses on the most, Beta. Beta finds Alpha's head on a pike and he is angry. A random whisperer triggers him by saying he is the new ruler so Beta forces the reanimated head to bite off his ear. He heads into town carrying Alpha's head in a bag and eventually stabs the whisperer through the back. We learn that Beta was a country singer, he smashes a guitar and attracts a large amount of walkers by playing his music. He stabs Alpha and wears her skin in replace for the piece that Gamma ripped off. He then walks outside amongst the dead probably heading to Alexandria with the entire horde for another battle.

Overall, this episode was weak in some places but for the most part it was really well done, the score was perfect as usual and their was some deep, emotional scenes

Warning: Spoilers
Good episode. Eugene's speech was terrific and amazingly acted I thought, I think he is definitely one of the show's current best characters. The best character by far is Negan who shined again, although those Whisperers proclaiming him the new Alpha was kinda silly. Overall it was a slower episode, especially Carol's part which was quite lazily written I thought. The callbacks to The Grove were nice but honestly what was the point of having her trapped underneath those ruins just to escape at the last second, the 628494927th use of this trope throughout the show's course. This show has done hallucinations well but Carol seeing Alpha felt quite forced to be honest. The characterisation and interactions was once again excellent, particularly Negan and Daryl, and the ending has set up the next episode nicely, especially with the new community. Also, even though not much happened with him, Beta is being so well depicted as an outright insane, broken man

After the last two episodes Just No
nona-sui30 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
How many hallucinations is Carol going to have? Are they incapable of writing anything for her other than brief happiness, then long periods of her misery? How many people will Negan save for his redemption arc? I still question it b/c the writing is so elementary. Haven't seen a good redemption arc in years & Boy Scout Negan is nauseating, he was at least funny & interesting as a full villain( and if this show tries to make anyone believe Daryl & Rosita & Aaron etc would ever accept him it's officially jumped the shark) I like Ezekiel & Yumiko but they're side characters & weren't enough to save this episode, they were boring too. New chick looks crazy, maybe she'll bring some freshness. Speaking generally this isn't the show I fell in love with. No ingenuity, no spark. It felt like trudging through mud looking for something good & never finding it. Much better than s8, that was bottom, but the show's stale. I'm a masochist, I keep watching b/c I'm trying to remain loyal, habit and nostalgia for when it once was great. It's like a soap opera with zombies - predictable & corny.

Best part of the whole episode was Daryl's looks of annoyance & boredom, it mirrored mine. Hope the next episode has some life to it.

Too much whining Carol, and unfortunately more of Alpha, but some good Daryl and Negan moments saved the episode.

Not bad, but TWD is just not a game changer in the TV landscape anymore.

Another weird filler episode
ansonlam30 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Another classic filler that you'd expect of the Walking Dead. Hallucination - check. Hallucination of a person you've killed - check. Getting stuck under debris - check. Getting stuck under debris for hallucinations to speak - check. Hallucination disappears and leaves character unchanged and uninspired - double check.

Completely predictable revelation of Beta's past, one which most viewers don't care and one that has little to no significance on the plot.

Some good shots and a glimpse of a new character aren't enough to balance out just how dull this episode was, plot-wise.

Every scene this episode felt like it developed the story and the characters further in what looks like it's going to be two emotional and huge last episodes. I love the Negan and Daryl scenes most.

Good episode. Negan did steal the spotlight. Carol makes some iffy decisions that gets her stuck. Characters are finally breaking into new ground.

The War is Nearly Over
ThomasDrufke30 March 2020
This episode felt like an old-school night of The Walking Dead. There was something special about seeing Eugene, Yumiko, and Ezekiel go into the city and discover a potential new friend/foe with 'Princess', it felt very reminscent of the early days of TWD when we still got to see city wide visual effects akin to 28 Days Later. At any rate, reveals were made about Beta's past, which many of us assumed to be the case but having him by a famous singer instead of an actor/basketball player like in the comics, was a nice twist. We got a cool team-up between Negan & Daryl, which I can only hope signals more from them going forward. And we also were able to see Carol go through a final psychological battle with Alpha, giving Samantha Morton a nice send-off which felt more appropriate than her anti-climatic end a few weeks back. All in all, this was a fun episode that checked several necessary boxes to move the story forward.

So What Did We Learn Tonight? AMC/IMDB Doesn't Care About Long Time Viewers!
sevenlilxenos30 March 2020
I remember watching the previews for a new show called The Walking Dead on AMC over 10 years ago. It looked interesting and I got quickly hooked. It aired on the perfect day and time Sundays at 9 pm (EST) as I was almost always home then and a few hours before bed.

After 4 or 5 seasons of reading other viewers reviews as well as the professional External ones AFTER the latest episode of TWD had aired I began writing fairly short reviews myself just for fun. I would jot down bullet point topics while watching and then quickly bang out my review while everything was still fresh in my mind.

I would NEVER read other people's reviews or any of the professional external ones until after I had submitted my review as I did not want to be influenced in any way, shape or form directly or even perhaps subconsciously.

This worked out great for me until recently.

Apparently if you pay extra money or purchase an upgraded package or whatever from AMC you get to see the newest episode of TWD a day or so earlier than everyone else.

I have absolutely no problem with that.

What I do have a problem with is IMDB now allowing rating scores and reviews to be posted PRIOR to the latest episode has being aired on traditional cable tv.

I know, I know - Why don't I just NOT read them until AFTER I have watched the latest episode at its regular time? Fair question.

The answer is before the new episode starts I would always review the cover page and read the basically spoiler free AMC synopsis. That way I got the general gist of whats going on, Is this a continuation of last weeks episode or something different like Michonne going to the island or Morgan's one off back story.

I would also then go back to last weeks episode and re-read my review as well as reading everybody elses and the profession external reviews to be all caught up from last week as a lot of things can happen IRL in any given week, this week being no exception.

I would also glance at the characters to see if there were any new ones and if so how to correctly spell there names.

I CAN'T do that anymore without seeing the average vote from over 300 viewers who have all seen the newest episode early, not to mention the over a dozen reviews some with already over 50 pro or con votes (obviously those are much easier to ignore).

My point is that I never use to have to go through all these various gyrations. So now its not fun anymore and I have just stop writing reviews.

The solution to this problem is very easy. IMDB should simply NOT post RATING SCORES or REVIEWS until AFTER the new episode has aired at its normal time when MOST people watch it. Is that really that hard?

OK, I've vented. I was just curious if anyone else felt the same way?

Neagan was the Only good Scenes
arfdawg-130 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The show sucks. Plain and simple. The whole crap with the dead Alpha haunting the chick was stoopid. Plus, she is an annoying character. Eziechal has no role. Kill him already. Beat goes nutso just like that other bad guy who had his dead daughter in a closet a number of season ago when the show was good. So now they are repeating stuff left and right. Why there's a Brit Asian in America makes no sense. And the zombies in colorful gear is just plain dumb.

Neagan had the only good scenes and even that wasnt great.

Peacefully calm before the storm. Hilltop is the best.
ououzaza30 March 2020
Hilltop's mission seeking new community, is hope. The music and dialogue represent that. It was calm, hope. After everything they've been through. I enjoy this part though, it wasn't intense. But the dialogues gives hope, inspire. Watching this part puts smile on my face.

Carol's part is kind of a filler, character building. Which is maybe too long, there wasn't much to talk about. I enjoy it but I didn't like it.

Beta and Alpha, is just like Carol. Story didn't push forward much, sadly. I wish it would offers more.

You have questions. Let me explain. (Pt.5)
Rob-O-Cop29 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Obligatory 10/10 even though this is a 3-4, but in the world of the walking dead our standards are so low an absolute zero on the kelvin scale is still a 10. plus the hired drones who up vote the 10s and down vote the valid criticisms will never read this, or will they.
  • Carol's character is a bit of a mess, first she's having a melt down, then she's cunningly planning for Negan to off Alpha, because she can't do it herself even though her whole history in the series has been one who can and will do what it takes. The uneasy truce with the whisperers was obviously broken so it's all on war, but it wasn't. So we got a handful of the most excruciating dragged out directionless toss that leads us to Carol having a chat to a ghost alpha, then the big reveal flashback that it was Carol's plan all along, like it matters or anyone cares any more.
  • where did the horde go to, everyone is walking around and camping out at night like it school holidays. where's the 10,000 destroyed rotting carcasses? Carol decides to go for a wander because it's all good now, no whisperers or horde left??? finds a canoe is someone's shed and fails to notice the structural integrity is lacking and brings the whole building down on herself but it's ok, just dislocate your shoulder and you're sweet. phew.
  • Beta turns into a DJ for zombies and gets his best audience in years but it still came out boring. why didn't he sing em a song for some manic crazy , take it to the joker level, or keep it boring. There were some good details, I like alpha talking to him from her zombie head, they could have run with that and it would have fitted into the whole walk with the dead theme and kept it crazy, but no, they had him kill her and patch his cool mask which it seems wasn't well made at all with the way it fell off like a cotton wool santa beard ripped from the face of a mall santa by a 4 year old, so now he's got her pasty white skin on his, and the end result isn't as crazy or terrifying as any of the other directions they could have taken this to make it have any semblance of interest and logic. Beta did a little home sewing. Fascinating.....
  • Poor Daryl. What are they making him do. He still delivers with his character, he's still cool. At least they didn't make him have a little cry cry to himself, yet, but what are they making him do? just walk round in circles wearing his silly angels wing jacket,
  • Negan, they tried to show the inner torment of him but none of it stuck. Why is he sticking around, why does he care about the people who kept him captive for 7 years, none of his motivation makes any sense. Is he redeemed or not? Does Jeffery Dean Morgan chip in on the discussion on what they make his character do or does he just take the paycheck and not think about it.
-Eugene's going to the prom and everyone is buying him an outfit. It might as well be that silly. At least we get to see a different landscape. Ezekiel coughs in all the right places, until the zombies are close then he does the zombie dodge and cough.
  • Magna had a potentially interesting story to tell about how she walked out of the cave , but instead we get her moping around the site like a lost catwalk model striking cheekbone poses.
  • that pretty much sums up this show, plenty of interesting directions to go in but none of them explored.
