Had potential but ultimately it's a frustrating movie.
JJett1313136 April 2021
This movie has very good acting and excellent atmosphere and a palpable sense of dread but it's also a very frustrating experience to watch. I wasn't sure if this was a zombie film or an infection movie (like 28 DAYS/WEEKS LATER) and in fact THIS movie doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. Some infected act violently for a few seconds but most infected just gasp for breath and crawl on the ground. One character in particular spent the majority of her screen time gasping/crawling around on the floor (at least 20 minutes of the film!!). The crawling gets annoyingly repetitive especially considering the movie is only an hour and 17 minutes long. The film seems to want to be an infection film (like CONTAGION) but also have zombie movie vibes to it.

There's a very interesting and dark side storyline involving how the outbreak is happening but it's only focused on for about 3 minutes. The filmmaker of this movie has a ton of talent and potential though. I hope he makes more films that have a better storyline/script.

Starts interesting, too long later
ahmetbilgili7 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It could be a great short movie. There are scenes without purpose, there are scenes too long without a goal. Some questioning of the characters motives, while they are progressing.

The scenes themselves shot nicely. I liked the dark atmosphere, interesting character histories and how they are provided without too much details. I was expecting something, a climax to happen, which never happened.

Hall (or: how to go out of your way to not save your daughter)
Sir_watch_alot12 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I liked almost everything about this one. Except the fact that the mom just keeps doing everything else than try to save her daughter.

The first 40 or 50 minutes were really okay. After that it went in all directions. Like most others say. Good start. Weak ending.

Terrible
jn-73-7149829 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Did the mom just forgot about her kid she sent to the stairwell? She seems like she didn't have any sense of urgency to get to her..did the old folks at the party have no phones, no family to call them to what was going? Script was bad, really bad!

Worst movie ever
marmolinacarlos14 March 2022
Super slow, the personality of the characters are predictable and with no construction at all.

80 minutes just trying to figure out what was really going on and seeing a lot of feet scenes What wrong with the mother? Prefers to gossip and be naive than go and save her daughter. Nonono, terrible.

The typical "bad guy" with an "evil plan" trying to conquer the world.

The only "mystery" here is how this got made.
blondeblue19 October 2021
Don't let the genres of "mystery" and "thriller" fool you. There are NO thrills here, just interminable boredom. It runs 1 hour 20 minutes, but it feels like 4 hours because nothing happens. We get to listen to someone's boring, pointless phone call to their mother, which goes on and on and on for no apparent reason other than to pad the running time. A terrible, terrible movie which should be an embarrassment to all involved.

Don't waste a second on this garbage. You'll thank me later.
lopsino-686276 June 2021
This movie is a shame and a disgrace on the part of the script writer. The movie has no purpose or vision. A woman sent her daughter outside to wait for her and all of a sudden the woman forgot she even had a child. Hahaha, joke of a movie.

Okay so here's the thing... lol
jelisamerriweather21 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This movie has potential. I don't normally write reviews on movies, but this one deserves one. First off, the mother, she is just horrible lol. She took so long to go to her daughter, I mean like seriously, going into the apartments, talking to other people, just doing everything BUT go save her daughter 😂 I started to feel bad for her cause of her husband but baby you will never leave your daughter alone for that long... another thing that annoyed me, is that she didn't tell NOT ONE SOUL what was going on... so you just scream "you need to get out of here" & that's it? Why not tell them there are sick & dead people on your hotel floor... this woman here... she was driving me crazy w/ her decisions. Other than that, it was a decent movie, too much scene of Naomi crawling on the floor though. I like the idea of the movie entirely, but it could've been better, but still good job though 🤙🏾

A frustratingly slow movie, 3 people laying on a hotel hall carpet. One of them crawls along for about 60 minutes thats about it. Nothing happens. You keep waiting thinking something will happen soon...but no.

It's really hard to find anything positive to say about this film , possibly the only redeeming thing is the fact that it's quite short. The story is weak and the mothers lack of interest in her daughters well being is frustrating and unrealistic. How it got 80% on rotten tomatoes is genuinely shocking. Don't fall for it , its a trap. The film is garbage!

Escaping an abusive relationship
sndiaz5 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's very hard escaping an abusive relationship. I unfortunately know from experience. You imagine horrible scenarios and awful things that could happen should you try to leave. The route to your escape (hallway, car, stairs, elevator) seems cluttered, dangerous and long. If you screw up, both you and your child may die (Naomi and unborn child) but you still must try. If you have a still and small voice encouraging you to still leave and "that your daughter needs you" (woman with daughter locked in random hotel room) then you're lucky. Downstairs, it was shown that there was no state emergency. This woman and daughter (albeit fictional) got away. Love this film.

It was almost a great movie!
kastle-238218 April 2021
But almost isn't good enough 😕 As another review said, this movie has wonderful acting, but it doesn't know if it wants to be a zombie movie or an infection (like contagion) movie. Awesome potential and I hope the director makes another movie with more direction next time..

Screaming at the tv
tdeyorio17 January 2022
Absolutely horrendously slow and frustrating to watch a cast of characters move like snails away from a ravenous virus . Terrible. I can't say enough how frustrating this movie is. If you like slow movies that you yell at the screen at the characters for being dumb, watch this. If not... Stay away.

Don't lose your time
semendes12 November 2022
This movie is a loss of time. Really, from the script, to the action, to the "story" if you can call that a story, to the acting, to the music and sound effects to the makeup. Everything about it is really bad. I thought I was in for a good time but in this genre of movies this is one you want to skip and stay away from. I went with some hopes, even if here had a 3 stars review, but very quickly I knew I was in for a disappointment. Still decided to keep going, hopefully it would change and surprise me for good but I was wrong. But now you know, keep scrolling and look for something else to watch. This is boring and will disappoint you.

FRUSTRATING
racingeric119 July 2022
The movie is repetitive and illogical and the main character is painstakingly frustrating! As the film progresses you begin to understand why the husband thinks her wife is a very silly person. Give her the award of worst mom of the year!

What in TARNATION was that?
tabercrombie-0938811 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I would just like to say...WHAT IN TARNATION? That was such a slow, frustrating and confusing movie. The mom was as slow as the plot. Took too long to do everything and basically constructed a picnic, stirred some kool-aid and started a marching band before she remembered she had a daughter in the midst of some sort of chaos. So many unanswered questions about this movie and just a waste of an hour. Were they zombies? Who was the man that seemingly caused the virus? Why the HELL didn't the lady inform the people on the lower floors about what was happening. She was just a complete disaster. I wish Naomi survived instead. 😀

Hope there is a part 2!
sunshineca-363987 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with other reviews, the main character was ridiculously frustrating. Good acting, continuous bad decisions. The description is very misleading, no one is fighting to survive anything. One person crawling, one hobbling, everyone else laying there sick. There is so much that is unexplained. How is there a national threat on T. V. but everyone in the hotel is oblivious except the 3rd floor? Why did the little girl see and hear her daddy downstairs? Why did that woman have no urgency to get her daughter? Why did she go in that random room and have a slow conversation with what appears like no one or maybe herself? Why was everyone in the hall? No one thought to call on the phone for help? Why was everyone on that floor sick except mom and daughter? Why only that floor? Why did the guy that supposedly infected them think it would spread if no one makes it past the hall before dying? So many questions, no answers. I'd love to see a part two that goes into detail. It was a great idea, but should have been longer and more in depth with what the hell was happening.

1 hr of my life wasted
christianperez-5351317 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Acting, storyline and plot is basically non existent. Horror label is non deserving. From the overly calm mom with a daughter all alone in an infected hotel to the girl for no real reason hearing her dead fathers voice off in the distance, this movie has no true plot or purpose for that matter.

Totally scary
impasto200012 April 2021
Scary movie, rally scary, but if you like scary movies, get your popcorn, hopefully some company to watch with, and enjoy.

I liked how the story was developing, and the mix of suspense with personal lives of the characters. This story of personal lives probably could have been expanded a bit further. Acting was very convincing. The music was used effectively to build up the mood, as well as the reddish tint throughout the scenes, which movie makers have tought us to (subconciously?) associate with evil in countless films.

Nice Horror Movie
portal17906 April 2021
It could be an amazing horror movie if it went in another direction. Even so the acting is great and all the technical aspects are quite good. A nice surprise all things consider.

Great movie with a few plot holes
freddyfingerz22 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The good: Amazingly swift virus that debilitates the infected super quickly. Not sure how it's spread; a very mysterious and man-made virus. Special effects are done fairly well and believable.

My favorite part is that this is at the very beginning of the spread. It literally took over and killed almost everyone in just 1 hallway of a hotel, with the potential to spread to the entire place and eventually outside.

The bad; Questionable characters. Yes the protagonist is very flawed, but you can't really blame her too much since she has been living with domestic violence for years. Two things that 1 star reviewers mention: The first - She left her child outside for so long! Well, she just found out that her husband is also physically abusing her daughter, and also she just watched said husband develop a really nasty zombie-like virus that just attacked her and then died a few minutes later. When she goes outside, she finds multiple people with the same virus, so of course she's in shock. She manages to find her daughter after all.

The second is how she just left with her daughter without telling the hotel guests what's going on. I agree this is a selfish thing to do, but keep in mind that you don't know if anyone else is in on this virus; how can one floor be completely insane and find another floor having a party. They also stopped all dialog and had everyone looking directly at you (I find that highly suspect).

The supernatural elements can be explained fairly easily. The ones that aren't showing symptoms but are seeing things are probably infected but haven't gone through the main phase yet (The Japanese lady imagined her mother in the hallway, confirming that one of the symptoms of the virus is seeing and hearing things that aren't there). Both the protagonist and her daughter were seeing things.

I wish they would make a sequel and answer many of the questions, but with such poor reviews are unlikely.

Toxic men, evil plague
BandSAboutMovies26 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When a hotel hallway is ravaged by a mysterious virus -- yes, if you're looking for COVID-19 escapism, perhaps this is not your movie -- pregnant tourist Naomi (Yumiko Shaku, Lt. Akane Yashiro from 2002's Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Godzilla: Tokyo S. O. S.) and Val (Carolina Bartczak) bond over more than just their bad marriages. They're also stuck in a hallway filled with victims, all to find Val's daughter Kelly and perhaps get through the horror.

Made as an ode to 70s and 80s horror -- obviously, this Canadian project that tells of an isolated building dealing with a disease within is going to get a Cronenberg association -- the guiding question behind this film was "What would happen if vaccines were created intentionally for purposes of government control and for the profit of the pharmaceutical industry, not necessarily to cure viruses?"

Director/co-writer Francesco Giannini first full-length feature shows a confidence many won't have five movies in. This is a claustrophobic and dark movie that just plain works.

Turns into an interesting movie in spite of it's flaws.
draciron1 March 2024
This is a fairly good movie overall. Way too many stereotypes and lack of understanding of science to be a great movie. However the director and actors manage to pull off a movie that gets you hooked in spite of these obstacles. The depiction of the zero popper (people who believe the world is over populated and want to commit mass genocide for the "good" of humanity) was excellent. The suspense manages to build pretty rapidly and the actors make it believable in spite of some serious scientific errors. The work of the crew was top notch. This movie doesn't have a B flick feel to it at all. A script rewrite with more realistic characters, less stereotypes and less drama and this could be a very good movie.
